Great overall printerFeb 01, 2010

right out of the box this printer made great prints for pennies on the dollar, we picked this up because we're using a large format inkjet for proofs and it was eating us alive on print costs, for the price of the one set of large-format Epson ink cartridges we got this printer with toner included and have been very happy with the results, with almost no setup is very color accurate for a four color process printer, with almost no installation it went right onto the PCs and Macs and we haven't had a single problem with it. the prints are cheap enough that we can just give them away as proofs and not be concerned with the cost, and the media it prints on his very cost efficient in the printer itself is very reliable.

a solid printerApr 30, 2010
By David Boldt Our aging inkjet printer ended up no longer working with our new Mac, and after some consideration we decided to try a color laser printer since most of our printing didn't need to be photo-quality, and the quicker output and less expensive consumables were enticing. The output is wonderfully quick, and even the photos look better than we expected. We have ended up printing quite a few full-page photos which have been quite good enough to share with friends where we might have printed a 4x6 from the inkjet and spent much more time doing so. Skin tones are little harsh, but just about everything else looks great.
Do NOT use glossy inkjet paper in a laser printer ... the toner melts into globs and slides off the paper to be overlain on the next copy of whatever one prints.
The network availability has been very handy, though it was a bit more difficult to set up than I would've wished. Duplex printing is a wonderful thing, once you've had it you will never want to go back.
Been very happy with the printer and would make the same decision again.

Best color laser at its price point.Feb 21, 2012
By GZnarG After a great amount of research, wherein I consulted with numerous independent reviewers and a zillion personal reviews, I chose the Xerox Phaser 6280DN printer. A main criteria was easy integration into a home network with a mixture of MAC and PC, hard wired and WI-FI. Many of its competitors suffered from poor MAC drivers. As a graphics design studio was involved, it had to produce images suitable for customer proofs.
This printer was easy to setup. It's quiet, well constructed, and has a network quality control panel matrix. It's drivers came on-line in both MAC and PC applications with no problems. A monitoring application is included. It has native PostScript and PCL6 with, at least for the PC, two separate printer identities and automatically sets the default toner usage to B/W for PCL-6 and color for PS, although the printer, of course, responds correctly to transmitted color/b-w information, anyway. This insures that black toner is preferred for B/W prints verses color toner used to produce a black tone (saves toner).
Paper handling has been very satisfactory. The duplexer works rapidly and uses a unique method of processing the A side of two sheets at a time, then the B side. Legal sized duplex was no problem. Card stock was no problem. Nothing has been a problem. One nice feature is the ability to examine the job history via the monitor application, a good feature for business billing applications.
Cost per sheet for toner is middle of the road, but very reasonable for the quality. I do not recommend the after market toners as their quality is shockingly poor in this machine. The best cost/page is obtained by buying the 7000 print (5% typical, 8.5"X11") cartridges.
I bought this from Amazon at the rediculous price of $320 after a $150 factory rebate and some other Amazon discount. There is nothing on the market even close to this quality at this price. I would have paid more and still would have been happy with the value.

So Far, So GOODFeb 06, 2011

Received the Phaser and had a minor problem with connecting it to our mixed network (mac/pc), called the Xerox customer service and was pleased to find that I was speaking to someone in the US, that understood the problem and was able to help me quickly resolve the issue. I would highly recommend the Phaser and as stated "so far, so good" with the product.
