Overall I am happy with it.Feb 25, 2010 I got the camera right before my 2 week cycling trip. There are a few things I was looking for in a new camera, which would be useful on my cycling trips. One is for sure is AA batteries. While on a go and sleep in a tent, it is pretty often hard to deal with a built-in batteries. Another issue - the use of SD card. I have previously owned Sony camera, which uses Memory Sticks. They are more expensive, messier when you simply want to copy the content, and, once you are done with the Sony camera, pretty much a waste. Recording audio was another my wish. While traveling I try to record my day events every night. Writing it on a piece of paper is way longer. Using voice recorder in a device which is a must on every trip (a camera) is a huge benefit. Plus multiple other features which are pretty much these days on every camera, like video recording, etc.. So I found it all in this camera. And I love it for this. I am not sure about how long the camera itself will last, though. But I have bunch of friends which approved this choice, since in their experience Samsung products last. So, I hope to keep using it for long time.
In the "con" side - the battery charge. It tends to get wrong information about the charge left. And acts accordingly. I had a few situations when it was saying my battery charge is low (with the same batteries), and then after switching it off and on it would be okay again. I use rechargeable batteries and the pair lasted on average for about 200 pictures and a few minutes of video. This is approximately twice as less than my previous Sony camera, but still acceptable. Just make sure you have another set of batteries handy.
great camera...worth the moneyFeb 15, 2010 I bought this camera for my sister as a Christmas present and she loved it. I had to replace her old one, which broke when she dropped it. She wanted the same camera because non of the ones on the market were as good as this one. I am glad I bought it for her now she owes me one...or two LOL. I recommend this camera it takes great pictures as if taken by a professional photographer-and it is easy to use. It is worth the money and it isn't even close in price to others that don't provide similar features.
Buy it and enjoy!
Happy picture taking!!!
Wonderful Camera, just buy the right batteriesFeb 05, 2010 My husband and I bought this camera last year. We just love it. It's perfect for vacations, family events and just about everything. Learn how to use it properly, read the manual. Also, battery consumption is not a problem for us. We bought a couple sets of SANYO Eneloop NiMH Pre-Charged Rechargeable Batteries right here on Amazon and always have a spare set with us. The batteries are perfect for this camera. They stay charged a long time and also recharge quickly. I highly recommend this camera.

ProblemsFeb 19, 2009 I bought 5 of these of Christmas presents now just a little over a year later only one works mostly due to the fact that it's owner does not use it much. Battery problems, overheating etc. Avoid. I am a die hard Samsung fan but this is a bad camera.

I might be an amateur but i like this cameraJan 26, 2009 PROS - Feels like a camera. I bought a compact digital camera and it just feels small and akward, the S1050 on the other hand feels like a camera should. Takes great pictures and easy to navigate. 5x digital zoom if good if you can hold the camera still.
CONS - Uses 2AA batteries :(
