Only safe bet for Sony DSC-T9Jan 31, 2006
By E. G. Tacsik Although there are (much) cheaper & higher capacity "generic" (non-OEM) batteries claiming to "meet or exceed the original manufacturer specifications" being sold (e.g. ebay), they may not always work. As a case in point, although I've tried several generics, I have not found a one which will work with Sony's new DSC-T9.
Sony's "InfoLithiumĀ® technology" integrate a microchip which they claim: "ensures maximum battery life and maximum power". Unfortunately, Sony also uses this technology to stymie efforts to produce lower cost "generic" batteries by third parties.
When cameras (using InfoLithium batteries) power-up they read the status of the battery and display the remaining battery life. If the camera cannot verify the battery condition (or authenticity?), it will display an error message and power down.
Although more expensive and lower capacity than generics, this genuine Sony battery is guaranteed to work.

Stick with the Original OEM for SafteyMar 10, 2006
By None This battery is a must for Sony's slim line of cameras. You'll be tempted by cheaper versions of the battery. Keep in mind that all high quality batteries have built in circuit protection, and the cheap ones skimp on this protection (e.g. stories of exploding batteries in consumer goods...). They don't all come from the same factory! Stick with the good stuff. The battery makes a great backup for those long trips away from a re-charger. ~100-120 minutes on my DSC-T1.

It's worth the premium for a better batteryJun 04, 2006
By M. Graber It's great to have a backup battery. I've tried the off brand batteries (non-sony) and they work but they do not last as long (per charge and lifetime) and seem to get a lot warmer while charging. After spending so much on the camera it didn't seem worth it to skimp here...

Buy it on Amazon, not from SonyNov 03, 2006
By Beej in NY This battery works just as it should work. I charge it up and it powers my Sony digital camera. I highly recommend buying it here on Amazon rather than from Sony because Sony way overcharges for the battery. It is a real bargain here on Amazon.

Happy buyer!!Mar 16, 2007

I have never bought on Amazon before,so I took a chance, and don't regret it at all. This battery works just like the one that came with my Sony DSC-T10 and love how that camera fits perfectly in my purse, but the only thing that was missing was an extra battery, I just didn't want to pay 69$ for it in a store. So I checked online and found amazon to have the right prize with out the hassle of eBay. Recommend shoppers to buy from this company, I got my moneys worth! Sony camera owner.
